Brixton Cornercopia is allways on the lookout for great local makers who would like to sell produce in our shop.
Locally made-foods
We sell jams and chutney, herb and fruit vinegars, fruit cordials, soft drinks, ketchup and sauces, marinades, dressings, honey and preserved fruit. At the bottom of this page is a list of things we would especially like – but we are open to other product ideas so long as it’s something with a long shelf life. We don’t sell cakes and currently can’t take things that need refridgeration.
Non foods
Aside from food stuffs we have a carefully selected range of artist designed tea towels, aprons, bags greeting cards and locally made beeswax candles. We are keen to support local community projects and to introduce new products that are a good fit with who we are.
The idea
The shop is the core of who we are and what we do. It’s why we set up Cornercopia in the first place. When we first opened in 2009, we started with a very empty shop (nothing but 4 electrical sockets and a broken fridge) but a belief that there were lot’s of fantastic makers, bakers, growers, and cooks might be looking for a place to try out a new business idea or earn some extra income. We wanted the shop to be an incubator for start up food businesses - a place where people who had an idea could try it out, experiment and get feedback before before investing more time or resources. Our aim was to show that even in Brixton and nearby, there is a cornucopia of produce being grown and produced on our doorstep and that buying locally makes sense on many levels.
Quantities
We are keen to support small start up businesses – you don’t need to produce large quantities – we are happy to take small batches. Often we will buy from you upfront, so you can use the income to put back into your business straight away. (For some goods it will be based on sale or return). We can also help with branding and labeling requirements.
Food regulations
You will need to register with your local council. Registration is free and can be done online. For more information and advice contact:
